March 30 - April 15 | Peru
  •  HEALING: Deep Healing & Detoxification (physical, mental & emotional)
  •  SPIRITUALITY: Spiritual Insights, Understanding & Clarity
  •  KNOWLEDGE: Ancient Wisdom Teachings
  •  SELF-REALIZATION: Knowledge of Self & Real Life Purpose
  •  VITALITY: Energy Reboot (Recalibration/ Regeneration)
Our group will spend 3 magical days in the most sacred mountains in the world performing healing ceremonies while energetically preparing ourselves for our ayahuasca journeys in the jungle.

We will spend 2 days in Cusco and 1 full day in Machu Picchu. We will be working with some of the most amazing facilitators and shamans on the planet during these days. These shamans will be our guides that will be traveling with us. After Machu Picchu we will then head to The Temple of The Way of Light for our Ayahuasca journey.

An ayahuasca retreat at the Temple offers our guests an opportunity to experience deep healing which reaches to the energetic roots of trauma, imbalance and disorder, as well as initiates a long term journey of self-reflection, self-discovery and spiritual transformation.

12-Day Ayahuasca Retreats are comprised of 7 ceremonies, with 5 Shipibo healers and 2 experienced facilitators. These healing retreats are intense, typically with deep insights and profound restoration taking place in a short amount of time. Since 2007 The Temple has been passionately dedicated to providing a caring, professional, and supportive setting – always ensuring a safe, sacred space for our guests to heal, integrate and transform.

The most integral part of this journey will be the transformations that take place and how you are able to integrate these transformations into your life. This is why such a great portion of this program happens AFTER the journey has “ended”. After the retreat, each guest will be assigned a set of coaches and facilitators that will work with you in groups and in one-on-one sessions to ensure that you are able to sustain, cultivate, and maximize your healing experiences into your day-to-day life.
These are the facilitators you'll be traveling with for the duration of your trip. There will be additional Maestras and Maestros (Shamans) who will be facilitating our Ayahausca ceremonies.

Click buttons below to learn more about healing with Ayahuasca at The Temple
The cornerstone of ayahuasca healing is shadow work: healing deep-seated emotional and psychological issues by clearing your subconscious mind, the body and the energetic system of negative energies.

Ayahuasca helps to release negative, fear-filled patterns that have built up over many years through a process of witnessing, integrating and releasing emotional traumas. This facilitates new perspectives on the overall biography of your life and the reasons for the various phases, difficulties and painful experiences. Shadow work is the key to discovering an overall greater sense of purpose, presence and peace in your life.

The initial work is focused on cleansing and purifying your physical body to prepare you for the next stages. One quite reasonable expectation is that you will nearly always go through a strong purge with considerable vomiting and/or diarrhea – hence ayahuasca being referring to as La Purga in many parts of the Amazon.

Some people have unrealistically high expectations of their first ceremonies. To see breathtaking visions at an early stage is rare, but they should not be the primary goal in any case. It is important to understand that an ayahuasca retreat at the Temple is focused on deep healing and not ‘tripping’. While it is not unusual not to experience any visions in your first ceremonies, persistence, patience and determination will often, yet not always, lead to the more visionary states after you have carried out essential physical and emotional healing.

It is important to not set your expectations too high before a ceremony. This is captured by a saying that often emerges from retreats: You will always receive what you need, which isn’t always what you want.

When visions do occur, it is common to see a proliferation of colors, lights, geometric patterns and animals. These are actually somewhat peripheral to the work: the more profound healing is taking place on deeper levels, and insights and understandings about the world and universe around you will typically arise from within, not outside of yourself. That said, it is impossible to outline exactly what will happen on your own personal inner journeys. Everyone is different and no ceremony is ever the same as another. Even the most experienced ayahuasca drinker cannot predict what direction their visions will take, although there often seems to be a sense of a “course” (in the educational sense) or trajectory being followed, when one looks back over a series of ceremonies.

Eventually, incredibly vivid visions may come to you – often revealing profound knowledge about your place in the universe, the plant and animal kingdoms, and perhaps even revealing life in other dimensions and galaxies. After considerable work, the spirits of the plants (the ibo in Shipibo) or sometimes ancient shamans (Meraya) in their spirit-form may reveal themselves to you.

Working with ayahuasca is very complex, and the medicine will typically work with you in ways you cannot anticipate, and will not respond to impatient demands. Sometimes, when you are in the process of cleansing and purifying your emotions, your mood can become low. Like any cleanse, it is common to feel worse during the healing process before feeling better. Another truism: true healing isn’t about ‘feeling better, but better feeling’.

One of the keys to the liberation of our shadow material is the unfamiliar motion of turning into, not away from, our discomfort. Allowing difficult feelings and emotions to surface, accepting them, integrating them and then releasing them is an indispensable part of the healing process.
The Temple of The Way of Light is a traditional plant-medicine shamanic healing center located in the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest that offers intensive ayahuasca retreats with female and male Shipibo healers. They are dedicated to providing our guests with the opportunity to benefit from the ancient healing wisdom of the Shipibo people, and to helping this unique culture preserve its knowledge and identity in the 21st Century.
Traditional Shipibo Plant Spirit Shamanism
We work with some of the most respected and powerful healers (Onanya) from the Shipibo tribe. They are highly experienced, gentle, caring and deeply dedicated to healing and embodying the wisdom and sincerity of their people. The healing traditions of the Shipibo people offer an ancient yet pioneering path to health, re-discovering our true nature and re-awakening to our true purpose.

The Temple of The Way of Light firmly believes in respecting and honoring the ancient practices of the Onanya, experts in ayahuasca healing and plant-spirit shamanism of the Amazon. They bring a rich cultural and medicinal legacy to the healing process: time-honored rituals, intricate practices, an expansive cosmology, an encyclopedic knowledge of medicinal plants of the Amazon, and a far-reaching ancestral lineage.

We are not part of the new-age movement, or based on any religion. The foundation of the Temple’s work is facilitating profound healing in a safe, compassionate and supportive setting. We work only with highly skilled healers and experienced facilitators. The cornerstones of our ayahuasca retreats in Peru are shadow work and soul integration through deep healing on all levels: physical, emotional, psychological, energetic and spiritual.
The Temple of The Way of Light is a pioneering healing center in the Peruvian Amazon that has facilitated safe ayahuasca healing retreats for over 6,000 guests from more than 30 countries since our foundation in March 2007. Offering a synthesis of ancient Shipibo healing traditions and modern and Eastern integrative practices, the Temple is proud to be known as the safest and one of the most respected and long-established plant-spirit shamanism centers in the Amazon Rainforest.

Safe Ayahuasca Healing Retreats
All our ayahuasca healing retreats feature a balance of highly experienced female and male healers (Onanya) from the indigenous Shipibo tribe. This incredible team of 12 healers represents over 250 years’ experience practicing the ancient art of ayahuasca shamanism. They are supported by our highly trained and knowledgeable Western facilitators, who act as a critical cultural bridge between the healers and our guests.

The Temple recognizes our ayahuasca healing retreats as sacred work and is dedicated to providing the optimum conditions for profound, long-term healing. Through ayahuasca, our retreats move us into right relationship with ourselves and others. By bringing clarity to where and how we must change – and treating the psycho-spiritual and emotional imbalances that impede change – ayahuasca and the Temple’s Shipibo healers help guests toward a healthier, more integral and joy-filled life.

All Temple retreats include:
  • A high ratio of healers to guests,
  •  A high number of ayahuasca ceremonies,
  •  Daily floral baths,
  •  A steam bath,
  •  Individual consultations with Shipibo healers,
  •  Plant remedies,
  •  A nutritional and balanced ayahuasca food diet, and
  •  A strong focus on how to process and integrate ayahuasca healing, both during and after our retreats
High Number of Ceremonies
The Temple offers such a high number of ceremonies ( 7 in 12 days) to ensure that our healers have sufficient time to reach into the roots of the issues presented by our guests. We are passionate about our work and deeply committed to facilitating lasting healing and integration. Our retreats are intense and challenging experiences that initiate a much longer-term healing journey that unfolds for months and even years after visiting the Temple.
High Ratio of Healers to Guests
Our 12-day ayahuasca retreats are run by three female healers and two male healers – with the group size limited to 22 people. These numbers ensure that each guest is given close, personalized attention in every ceremony and throughout their healing process.
Working with Predominantly Female Healers
A unique focus on working with Onanya Ainbobo – indigenous women healers working within the rich and complex medical tradition of the Shipibo people. The women healers are complemented by Shipibo male healers who provide a necessary balance to the healing work.
Compassionate Environment
From the inception of the Temple in 2007, our core philosophy was to provide an atmosphere of genuine care and compassion. Over the subsequent years we have become known for the sensitive and attentive style of our retreat facilitation and the wholehearted level of support offered by our entire team. We firmly believe that a compassionate environment is an essential component of the overall healing process. This allows guests to be vulnerable, tender, open, honest and authentic, without fear of judgment or criticism while undergoing deep healing.
Respecting Indigenous Traditions
There’s no place on the planet to have an indigenious ayahausca experience other than in the Amazon Jungles of Peru, the jugular vein of Mother Gaia. Underpinning the Temple’s work is our vision for the incredible mastery of indigenous healers to be respected, legitimized and honored in the modern world. We aim to cultivate a richer understanding in the West of the Shipibo system of shamanic healthcare and substantiate the efficacy of their ethno-medical traditions.
Ethics and Professionalism
Since our inception at the beginning of 2007, the Temple has adhered to a rigorous set of ethics and professional standards to manage our growth sustainably and give back to the people and land around us in the Amazon. The Temple employs over 100 people, mostly from the surrounding area, and contributes to the economic welfare and infrastructure maintenance of the local village.
Stringent Health and Safety Standards and Support
Your well-being is our priority and the Temple is deeply committed to guiding guests safely through deep personal healing and growth, both in and out of ceremony. We apply rigorous health and safety protocols that include pre retreat medical screening, and personality and psychopathology screening. In the Amazon itself, our safety provisions encompass: an on-site nurse, staff trained in first aid, fully equipped first-aid kits, emergency protocols, permanent communications on- and off-site (cell and radio), 24-hour transport to Iquitos, a contracted medical clinic in Iquitos, and 4 staff supervising each ceremony (2 facilitators, a door person and a toilet assistant). These standards are complemented by an extensive support staff of 60 people throughout the Temple grounds.

The Temple’s ayahuasca healing retreats are united by an unwavering focus on compassion and safety. We are constantly striving to offer the safest container for our guests while they move through their ayahuasca journey. This level of care extends to before, during and after the retreat.

Aside from the provision of quality ayahuasca, experienced healers, stringent safety protocols and a compassionate environment, integration is the single most important predictor for a successful outcome when working with ayahuasca. The Temple is committed not only to effecting profound healing in the Amazon, but also to supporting you after your return to ‘day to day’ life through the provision of our Continuing Care Program. This support system offers community, guidance, reassurance, advice, exercises, techniques, meditations and an overall pathway that will significantly aid your integration, and help you reclaim present awareness and to live a healthy, whole and balanced life.

Before: We apply some of the most stringent health and safety protocols in the Amazon, including in-depth medical screening. Guests also receive detailed guidance on how to prepare for healing with ayahuasca and the initiation of a long term journey of self-discovery, spiritual awakening and transformation.
During: The Temple nourishes a spiritual practice based on the exercise of love and compassion. Put simply, we care deeply about our guests. We have embedded this approach by establishing a high ratio of staff to guests, which ensures an exceptional level of service and individual attention.
After: We view the ayahuasca experience as a continuum. Our comprehensive 3-month aftercare and integration support ensures guests have the assistance and practices to safely navigate their ongoing healing experiences instigated by ayahuasca once they return home.
“The atmosphere is out of this world comforting and safe and the staff are so loving it was more than inspiring. The safe container the Temple provides is just phenomenal and noteworthy, I have not come across such a loving healing space before. The vision of the Temple is just such a blessing to humanity, thank you for birthing this into reality.”Laura Calderon, July 2015

“If you want at least 20 years of psychotherapy, a complete reprogramming of your mind, your heart expanded like the Grinch after Christmas, all of your demons turned into allies, and then have all of this hooked up and integrated so that it just flows through you, then this is where you need to be. Core issues I’ve been trying to come to peace with for over 12 years through acupuncture, workshops, energy healing, meditation, yoga, massage, talk therapy, and more, were done and dealt with by the 2nd or 3rd ceremony. Just gone. It wasn’t easy and it wasn’t pretty, but it’s gone.”Stephen Daniels, July 2015

“In every ceremony an issue was addressed, starting from my childhood up to the present. Words cannot describe how healing was achieved with the help of the integrative practices so quickly.”Michelle White, December 2014

“I am forever changed for the better. I feel so much lighter on so many levels, healing past trauma and physical disease. I never thought I could heal to this degree. The joy and completeness I feel is amazing.”Kaitlin Procknow, March 2015

“I never dreamed the hearing in my right ear would return after 42 years. Talk about a bonus! It’s also great being symptom-free from Lyme’s for the first time in 2 years. The health benefits have been amazing. I was able to face aspects of my life in and out of ceremonies in a safe place, enabling me to work through many fears for a future I was never able to look to before. I return home with a feeling of being cleansed physically and emotionally. I return home with a nice set of tools to allow me to continue this work on myself. I hope to have the opportunity to return again and again.”Tess Yergin, July 2015

Ayahuasca has been recognized as a medicinal healing agent for thousands of years by indigenous cultures along the Amazon River. Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” ~ Carl Jung
